Shawnia Yon ’24 leads a Street Jazz Dance Workshop through David Dorfman Dance, Conn’s company-in-residence, for participants in the Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership (LEAP) for Kids program in the Myers Dance Studio. LEAP was founded in 1992 by educators, students and community activists to address the historic disinvestment in young people of color in New Haven. The LEAP students are on campus for a one-week intensive with Conn faculty, students, alumni and members of the David Dorfman Dance company.

Some of the Holleran Center Summer Civic Leaders gather in Hood Dining Room to make their final presentations for their summer internships. The program places students with partner organizations in New London to address social issues—including education, employment, health, homelessness and racism—at a local level. The program, in its sixth year, is a partnership between Conn and Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut.
